"Tuesdays with Lori" - Children's Folk Music sing-a-long with Lori Burke. Held 11 am every Tuesday, June 22nd thru Aug 17th in the Goodell Event Barn.

Farmer's Market  Wednesdays  3:00 - 6:00 pm   July 7th thru Sept 15th
Confirmed vendors: Hurry Hill Farm (maple products), Skelton Farm (grass-fed beef and alpaca wool products), Rick Walker (tomatoes and cucumbers), Honeycutt Nursery ( annuals and perennials), Hunter Farms (blueberries and hand-made soap) and B and R Greenhouse (perennials and veggies) also Baked Goods, Home-made Ice Cream and Baklava vendors. Accepting Vendor Applications for 2011: contact Heather at 814-734-6699 for more info.

Art in the Cabin  During regular Garden open hours. Held in conjunction with Catwater Who Signature Gallery in Edinboro. Local artists Mary Hamilton, Diana Boone, Jack Paluh, Kathy Welte, Mary Miller, David Tousey interpret the following themes:

May 13-15th    Edinboro Art and Music Festival      Free Admission  
Goodell Gardens will serve as a satellite location for this annual community event. Please visit the official Festival Web Site for more details and music schedule.

  • May 2nd
    A Mad Hatter's Herbal Tea Party:
    Join Judy Berger from Chicory Hill Herbs, Erie and Nicks Place Catering for a taste of Raspberry Vanilla Joy, Coconut Truffle and other tasty herbal delights. Learn about which herbs to grow, herb preparations for teas, and new flavor combinations.

    The Square Foot Gardening Method:
     
    Learn the process of growing more veggies in limited space with less weeding using the Square Foot Method developed by Mel Bartholemew. Heather Zimmerman has been growing her garden in this fashion for 15 years and will offer tips for success.

 

JUNE 2010

Saturday, June 5th    Open Garden Day and Plant Sale    11 am - 3 pm   Free Admission (bring your plant money!)
An open house featuring a plant sale and gardening talks. Local Nurseries and Garden Clubs will be on hand selling perennials and veggie starts. Master Gardener, Gail Schultz will speak on Organic Solutions to Gardening Problems and Pests at 1 PM(in Event Barn).

    "Faces of the New Farm” DVD & Discussion:
    Bob Sonnenberg from Erie Whole Foods Coop. will show a DVD and lead a discussion about the sustainable, organic farm movement which brings consumers & farmers face to face as they buy produce in locally managed farms.

  • June 27th
    Designing with Color: 
    Brett Maloney of Brett Maloney Landscapes, North East will discuss garden design from an artistic point of view using color theory and principle. He will emphasize using color through all seasons and show new plant introductions with beautiful colors.

    Native Plants for Pollinators: 
    Greg Kedzierski from Ernst Conservation Seeds will discuss native wildflowers, grasses, trees, and shrubs that can naturalize your landscape, conserve water, reduce chemical requirements, and offer cover and food for birds, pollinators, and other wildlife.

    Everything you ever wanted to know about butterflies... and then some!:
    Celebrate National Pollinator Week with butterfly enthusiast, Rick Mikula. Rick is an internationally recognized lecturer and has conducted thousands of high energy and fast paced presentations on butterflies and the plants they need. He has written regular columns for 'Environment Pennsylvania' and 'People, Places, and Plants' magazines. He will be signing his award winning book, "The Family Butterfly Book".

    “Tomatoes, Garlic, Basil” with Doug Oster:
    Come hear Doug talk about his experiences growing this “holy trinity” of vegetables in his organic garden with book signing to follow. Doug is an Emmy Award winning producer, television host and writer. He's also the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Backyard Gardener and co-host/producer of The Organic Gardeners Radio show every Sunday morning on KDKA radio in Pittsburgh.
