Music of Origin Music Series
Experience the sounds that shaped our region! The Music of Origin Series is a brand-new, free community initiative from Goodell Gardens & Homestead (GG&H) dedicated to celebrating Erie County's rich cultural and musical heritage.
Just as our Gardens preserve local botanical history, this series cultivates and celebrates the diverse sounds that have flourished here—perfectly aligning with our mission to help people enjoy, gather, learn, and refresh.
Explore Erie's Diverse Soundscape
Join us as we explore the deep connections between geography, migration, and music. This series integrates captivating live performances with engaging documentary segments that trace how diverse populations—from original settlers to industrial migrants—have shaped the local soundscape.
The series is structured around three interconnected themes, highlighting the dynamic diversity of our community:
1. Regional Roots: Discover the maritime, folk, and old-time traditions, including the strong Appalachian and industrial influences that created our distinct regional sound
2. The Enduring Rhythm of the Blues: Trace the influence of the Great Migration as the Delta Blues adapted and thrived in Erie's industrial centers.
3. Worldly Music: Experience global rhythms and traditions, showcasing how our community's musical identity is continually evolving through international connections.
The Music of Origin Series is free to the public, ensuring that everyone in Erie County can gather and learn about the music that defines us.
