Job Description:
Goodell Gardens & Homestead seeks a dynamic and experienced executive who will enthusiastically embrace our mission and lead the organization with excellence. The ideal candidate will partner with the Board of Directors to develop and execute a vision for the next chapter of Goodell Gardens & Homestead. The Executive Director will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s operations including: fundraising; cultivating and retaining donors and sponsors; grant writing; program development and management; gardens and facilities management; mentoring and supervision of staff. The Executive Director is responsible for organizational leadership and communication; managing the Garden’s partnership with the community of Edinboro as well as the greater community and surrounding counties; public speaking as an arm of community outreach. The Executive Director is appointed by and reports to the Board of Directors.

Goodell Gardens & Homestead is currently accepting applications for a part-time Events Assistant.
Job Summary
The Events Assistant supports the Events, Gardens & Grounds, and Visitor Services Department by setting up for and cleaning up after public and private events and assisting with special projects.
Duties
- Placing tables, tents, chairs, trash cans, and other events equipment according to set up sheets & maps;
- Emptying trash and maintaining clean & presentable buildings and site throughout events;
- Maintaining Restroom Trailer (filling clean water, stocking supplies, spot cleaning, and scheduling maintenance contractors);
- Cleaning up after events including putting away tables, tents, chairs, trash cans, and other events equipment, sweeping and/or mopping, picking up litter, and emptying all trash receptacles;
- Supporting the Visitor Services Department with light reception and gift shop support, including cash handling, visitor orientation, and answering phones/taking messages;
- Closing the site during private rentals, including securing the site and locking all buildings and gates at the end of the evening.
- Assisting with special projects, including those in the Gardens and on the Grounds
Qualifications
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly, working outdoors in all types of weather. Because this position is required to be on-site alone during private rentals, this person must be at least 18 years old. Other requirements include a pleasant demeanor, good work ethic, trustworthiness, and being a good team player who is responsible enough to work independently.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $12.00 – $14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 per week
Schedule: Thursday – Sunday, day-time and evenings

Program Assistant.
Overview
Under the direction of the Events Manager, the Program Assistant participates in the development and delivery of programming at Goodell Gardens & Homestead including but not limited to workshops and tours. The Program Assistant works collaboratively with staff and volunteers of Goodell Gardens & Homestead to meet the annual goals and mission of the organization.
Duties
- Developing and delivering programming, including:
- Developing and teaching of lesson plans to pre-K students
- Scheduling and coordinating field trips
- Assisting the Executive Director, Education Manager, Gardens & Grounds Coordinator and Visitor Services Manager in researching and developing signage, brochures, and tours
- Scheduling and guiding tours for groups, school groups, and field trips
- Working with Events Manager to deliver programs that fulfill the mission, vision, and annual goals of Goodell Gardens & Homestead
Qualifications
A passion for environmental education, nature, and plants required. Education or program experience including curriculum/program implementation preferred. Formal education and/or demonstrated knowledge and experience in horticulture, botany, environmental science or similar biological, physical science, or natural history, with education preferred. Must possess excellent human relations, verbal and written communications skills; the ability to motivate and supervise volunteers; and ability to work with children. Ability to deliver programming both in person and in a virtual setting is required. Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather required.
